Who is this event for?
- Winter Adventure YUNGA is open to all, but designed for Guides and Scouts aged 10+.
- The event is scheduled to fit with the main UK Half Term Week, but is open to Guides and Scouts from any country. If this event doesn’t fit your school holiday week, we are able to run Winter Adventure programmes for groups of 10+ participants in other winter weeks, please contact us to find out more.
What activities are included?
Over the week participants work towards a YUNGA badge while taking part in a range of fun, outdoor activities. We aim to spend as much time as possible in the snow (weather dependent)! Activities include sledding, cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing, and onsite activities in the snow, see Info Pack for full details.
Can we do downhill/alpine skiing or snowboarding?
There is one free day in the event where you can plan your own activities. Adelboden has over 240km of ski slopes and a local Swiss Ski School that offers lessons for all abilities in skiing and snowboarding. In Switzerland only official ski schools can offer downhill skiing and snowboarding instruction, therefore Our Chalet cannot offer downhill skiing or snowboarding as an activity. Since 2024, Adelboden has operated a dynamic pricing system for ski passes, therefore Our Chalet can no longer arrange ski passes on behalf of guests. Ski passes can be booked online and are cheaper the earlier they are booked.
What else can we do on our free day if we don’t want to ski?
There are lots of options! Some groups choose to relax at Our Chalet, some choose a local activity such as visiting the woodcarver or ice skating, others go further afield to visit the old town of Bern, go to a famous chocolate factory, or even travel to the top of the Jungfraujoch. All free day activities must be arranged and booked by the group directly, Our Chalet provides a free day guide to give you ideas and tips to get started.
