Global Friendship Event 2024

Our Global Friendship Event is a five-night opportunity for all members aged 18 and over to come together in the sisterhood of Guiding at an international World Centre.
This event includes:
- Five nights’ accommodation in shared rooms
- All meals from dinner on day one to breakfast on the last day
- Transport during the event, via public transport
- Entrance fees to the London attractions
- A West End theatre ticket
- The support of Pax Lodge staff and volunteers whilst out in London

Skiing at Our Chalet – Winter 2025

Who can stay at Our Chalet to ski?
- Our Chalet offers the perfect location for skiing holidays for groups, families, and individuals of all genders.
- Participants are not required to be members of Guiding / Scouting.
Can I book a ski package?
Unfortunately, since the Adelboden Lenk ski area introduced dynamic ski pricing we are no longer able to offer ski packages with the ski pass included. However, we still offer the perfect location for a family friendly ski holiday! For guests who come to ski or snowboard we offer:
- Daily ski shuttle to Adelboden Oey gondola station (5 minute drive).
- The option to book breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner. You choose which meals you would like and just book what you need.
- A range of accommodation options from dorm rooms to single rooms. Please note: all of our rooms have access to shared bathrooms, we do not have any en-suite rooms.
- Luggage transfer from Adelboden Oey bus stop on arrival and departure (between 8am and 6pm) or free parking on-site.
- Relaxed and fun evening programmes that can be booked on arrival, whenever there are a minimum of 8 guests taking part.

Ski passes, equipment rental and lessons:
Our Chalet is no longer able to book ski passes for guests. Guests can book ski passes in advance online, which guarantees the best price, or buy tickets at the lift station on the day. Equipment rental can also be booked online in advance ready to collect on your first ski day. Our Chalet recommends booking equipment for downhill skiing and snowboarding from Oester Sport and choosing the Oey Sillerenbahn (Bodenstrasse 2) location for collection. Cross-country ski equipment can be rented from Intersport Hari on the Engstligenalp.
Adelboden’s ski and snowboard schools can offer lessons for all ages and abilities. Guests can arrange lessons by contacting the schools directly.
Connect, Camp & Celebrate 2024

New Year’s Break

Who is this event for?
- We welcome individuals, families, and groups of all ages and genders. The activities are best suited to age 10+.
- Members of Guiding/Scouting and non-members are all welcome to this event.
- This event is suitable for families, friends, and groups.
What activities are involved?
Experience the Swiss Alps in winter with activities including sledding/tobogganing, snow tubing, winter kayaking, winter walking, winter games, Eisstock, and bouldering. There is also the option to add a traditional fondue lunch in an igloo. Some activities are only included in the 6-day package.
Other notes
New Year’s Break is available as a 4 or 6 day package. This event does not include skiing, if you are a skier and would like to visit for skiing over New Year please contact us to enquire about ski packages.
Winter Adventure 2025

Who is this event for?
- This event is ideal for groups, families and individuals of all genders.
- Participants on Winter Adventure Packages are not required to be members of Guiding/Scouting.
- We recommend participants are aged 10+ to take part in activities.
What activities are involved?
- Winter activities such as snow-shoeing, sledding, cross-country skiing and winter hiking.
Please note that this package does not include alpine/downhill skiing. - Choose between 4, 6 or 8 nights any week in January, February or March, with flexible dates to suit participants (subject to availability).
Mini Breaks 2025
Our Chalet World Centre Adelboden, Switzerland
Who is this event for?
Mini Breaks are short programmes (usually on a weekend) for groups of any age accompanied by adult leaders. A great opportunity to experience Our Chalet with limited time!
What activities are included?
- Climbing Tower and Suspension Bridge
- International Minute to Win It
- Swiss themed onsite activities
The activities take place over two half days and one full day (usually Friday afternoon, full day Saturday, and Sunday morning – but we also have availability midweek) from mid January to end April. There are also two evening activities, which offer an opportunity to learn a new skill, play fun games, or work on a badge. Activities are weather-dependent, but we will always provide an alternative if an activity cannot go ahead due to weather.
Taste of Mexico 1- 2025

- Winter Adventure YUNGA is open to all, but designed for Guides and Scouts aged 10+.

What activities are involved?
Over the week you will work towards your YUNGA Biodiversity badge while also taking part in:
- Sledding on 10km+ of groomed sledge runs
- Cross-country skiing on an Swiss alp
- Snowshoe hiking
- Lots of onsite games, activities, and Swiss traditions
You will also have a free day where you can plan your own activities.
World Thinking Day at Nuestra Cabaña- 2025

This event will allow you to experience the 2025 World Thinking Day: Our World, Our Thriving Future and celebrate being part of a global sisterhood. Join Girl Guides and Girl Scouts from across the globe who care about solving the climate crisis and reducing inequalities. Let’s take action to create the world we want! Throughout the week, seize the opportunity to connect with the locals in a meaningful community action activity and to witness several hundred million of monarch butterflies that travel between Canada, the U.S., and Mexico each year by visiting the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve in Valle de Bravo.

Celebrate WAGGGS World Thinking Day at Pax Lodge with one of our day events.
Sessions will run:

Winter Walking Week 2025

Who is this event for?
- Winter Walking Week is open to anyone – individuals, families, friends, and groups are all welcome.
- There is a recommended minimum age of 14. Younger children with hiking experience (any season) may also be able to join – see Info Pack for details.
What activities are involved?
Winter Walking Week includes four guided winter walks on groomed trails, three of which involve gondola/cable car rides, and one optional sledding day. There are lots of opportunities for fun and friendship as you explore the magic of the Swiss Alps in winter. In the evenings we offer varied evening programmes with opportunities to learn about Swiss traditions, get to know our international staff, and put your competitive spirit into action!
Scholarships available!
For this event we have two types of scholarships available:
- For girls and young women who are active members of Guiding/Scouting and can demonstrate benefit in attending this event, we have event scholarships available which can be used to cover all or part of the event fee and all or part of your travel costs. Applicants must be physically fit enough to participate in all programme activities. Applicants under 18 are welcome, but must attend the event with at least one adult age 18+. - For women aged 60+ with at least 20 years participation in Guiding/Scouting, we have Cheryl Watkins scholarships available. These scholarships cover the accommodation portion of the event fee only (in this event CHF 180). To apply fill in this form.

SAVE THE DATE Ready Steady Go (Service Programme)

Who is this event for?
Ready Steady Go is a service programme for Guides and Scouts aged 18+. Younger Guides/Scouts may apply to take part if accompanied by an adult leader.
What activities are involved?
Ready Steady Go is a short-term volunteer opportunity, participants volunteer to undertake a variety of work to get Our Chalet ready for the busy Summer season. You will also take part in four evening programmes and one day programme (usually a guided hike in the local area). Volunteers have one free day to explore Switzerland on their own.
Work varies depending on weather and current priorities around the site, but is likely to include:
- Deep cleaning
- Maintenance
- Gardening
- Sewing
- Laundry
- Work on the grounds

JamBrownee 2025

Bring your Brownies for a weekend away they’ll never forget…
The event is aimed at girls from 8 to 10 years old to give them a taste of conservation, biodiversity and community action, and show them the large scale of the movement they are part of.
This cost includes:
- Three nights’ accommodation in shared rooms
- All meals from dinner on Thursday to breakfast on Sunday
- Programme Activities from Thursday evening to Sunday morning
- Official pinning ceremony
There will also be an optional trip to the Natural History Museum on Sunday (additional cost for adult travel may be required – no additional cost for girls)

2025 Discover 1
Our Chalet World Centre Adelboden, Switzerland
Who is this event for?
The Discover event is open to all Guides and Scouts aged 11-18, along with a limited number of their adult leaders.
What activities are involved?
During the event, you’ll:
- Take part in short hikes
- Cook over a fire
- Learn about Swiss culture in onsite day activities
- Kayak on a glacier-fed lake
- Ride on a cable car to one of the high mountain alps.
There will also be opportunities to learn lots about Our Chalet as well as carrying out a service project to help support the work of the oldest WAGGGS World Centre.
In the evenings, you’ll be able to participate in a varied evening programme of activities to learn new skills and have fun with your new friends. Throughout the week you’ll also learn about the WAGGGS leadership mindsets and have a chance to complete a Brilliance Beads leadership bracelet and the Our Chalet Summer Challenge badge.
As well as the activities offered by Our Chalet, one day in the event is left free for your group to do your own activities, either onsite, in Adelboden, or further afield.
Journey Through London One 2025 – SOLD OUT

Join us at Our Chalet for a varied programme of fun outdoor activities and sightseeing all while making new friends and experiencing life at the WAGGGS World Centre in the Swiss Alps.
Who is this event for?
The Explore event is open to all Guides and Scouts aged 12-18, along with their leaders.
What activities are involved?
On this event you can:
- Cross one of Europe’s longest pedestrian suspension bridges.
- Visit a Swiss castle.
- Fly along the ziplines at the Adventure Park and challenge yourself to reach new heights on the Climbing Tower.
- Take a boat ride on a lake surrounded by mountains.
- Ride a cable car to one of the high mountain alps.
- Experience hiking in the Swiss Alps.
There will also be opportunities to learn lots about Our Chalet as well as carrying out a service project to help support the work of the oldest WAGGGS World Centre.
In the evenings, you’ll be able to participate in a varied evening programme of activities to learn new skills and have fun with your new friends. Natural Mexico: Fireflies Forest

The Adventure event is open to all Guides and Scouts aged 12-18, along with their leaders. It’s our most physically demanding summer youth event suitable for those with a good level of fitness, with plenty of opportunities for fun and friendships along the way.
What activities are involved?
During the event, you’ll:
- Take part in a day of survival activities.
- Go on two challenging hikes in the Swiss Alps.
- Get competitive on the Adelboden Games trail.
- Fly along the ziplines and tackle the rock climbing wall at the Adventure Park.
- Race down the summer toboggan!
In the evenings, you’ll be able to participate in a varied evening programme of activities to learn new skills and have fun with your new friends. Throughout the week you’ll also learn about the WAGGGS leadership mindsets and have a chance to complete a Brilliance Beads leadership bracelet and the Our Chalet Summer Challenge badge.

- Ride on a cable car to one of the high mountain alps.

Celebrate India: Ganesh Festival 2025
Sangam World Centre, Pune, India
Take part in a cultural event which coincides with Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the biggest festivals in the State of Maharashtra. Ganesh is the elephant headed God and the remover of obstacles. You will get to experience this festival in person visiting the sites around Pune where people have erected Ganesh mandals. You will also visit the homes of members of the Sangam family to experience the festival first hand.
This event will allow you to explore India through its colourful customs and traditions in a way that a regular tourist would not – you are family! Maybe the power of the Elephant will also impact your life?
Immersing yourself in Indian culture will stimulate all your senses. You will get to experience the sights and sounds of market shopping, try your hand at tying a sari, smell the fragrant spices and enjoy tasting a feast of delicious food.

Walking Week 2025

Who is this event for?
- We welcome individuals, families, and groups of all genders, aged 12+. Younger children with hill/mountain walking experience may be able to join with discussion prior to booking.
- All welcome on this event – members of Guiding/Scouting and non-members.
- This event is aimed at those who have a good level of physical fitness and are interested in full-day walks in the mountains, but does not require previous mountain walking experience.
What activities are involved?
Join us for guided walks along some of our favourite routes and experience the breath-taking nature of the Swiss Alps! The programme includes five varied walks from riverside trails to mountain peaks, plus five evening programmes.
Other notes
September is one of the best months to explore Switzerland, with slightly cooler weather – but still many clear, beautiful days.
Hiking Week runs across the same dates and offers more challenging mountain hikes for those with previous experience. Groups and families are welcome to book across the two events, e.g. some of the group do Walking Week and some do Hiking Week. Meals and evening programmes are shared. Note: at least one adult aged 18+ must be on the same event as any children/youth aged under 16.

Hiking Week 2025

Who is this event for?
- We welcome individuals, families, and groups of all genders. The recommended minimum age is 14.
- All are welcome at on this programme event – members of Guiding/Scouting and non-members.
- This event is aimed at those who have some experience of full-day hiking in hills or mountains and a good level of fitness.
What activities are involved?
Join us to experience the best of hiking in the Bernese Oberland – from a UNESCO World Heritage lake to an overnight hike with a stop in a traditional Swiss mountain hut at over 3,000m altitude to a klettersteig route alongside Switzerland’s second highest waterfall!

International Friendship Week 2025

Who is this event for?
- Anyone age 18+ who wants to explore Switzerland with an exciting programme that doesn’t require a high level of physical fitness. Participants should also be excited to meet and mix with other people from around the world!
- Perfect for individuals, couples, friends, Rover/Ranger groups, and Trefoil groups. Ideal for inter-generational travel!
- Open to all genders, participants must be aged 18+.
- Participants are not required to be members of Guiding/Scouting.
What activities are involved?
This programme focussed on excursions to some of the highlights of the Bernese Oberland (and beyond)! Activities include:
- Schilthorn, the James Bond mountain in the heart of the Alps, with lunch in revolving restaurant.
- Emmental cheese show dairy with cheese tasting
- Bern parliament visit
- Easy walk along a raised wooden walkway in the Gantrisch Nature Park.
- Visit to Thun panorama, the oldest circular painting in the world, and the historic town of Thun.
- Boat tour of Lake Thun and kayak tour of Lake Brienz
- Half-day at Engstligenalp, summer home of our local cows, and half day in Adelboden village
- A more relaxed day on-site at Our Chalet

Real Mexico: Day of the Dead- 2025

From 31 October to 2 November, the streets are filled with colourful ofrendas (altars), marigolds and flickering candles to celebrate the return to Earth of deceased family members and loved ones. This special holiday is recognised by the United Nations for its cultural significance.

STEMazing Guides 2025

The event is aimed at girls from 10 to 13 years old to give them a taste of STEM, and show them the large scale of the movement they are part of.

Who is this event for?
- Anyone wanting to ring in the New Year in the Swiss Alps with an action-packed, family-friendly programme!
- We welcome individuals, families, and groups of all ages and genders. The activities are best suited to age 10+, we welcome younger children as part of family bookings, however please note that some activities may not be suitable, depending on age and height of the children. Please let us know at before booking if you would like to bring younger children.
- Members of Guiding/Scouting and non-members are all welcome to this event.

What activities are involved?
Experience the Swiss Alps in winter with activities including sledding/tobogganing, snow tubing, winter kayaking, winter walking, winter games, Eisstock, and bouldering. There is also the option to add a traditional fondue lunch in an igloo. Some activities are only included in the 6-day package.
Other notes
New Year’s Break is available as a 4 or 6 day package. This event does not include skiing, if you are a skier and would like to visit for skiing over New Year please contact us to enquire about ski packages.

The Adventure event is open to all Guides and Scouts aged 12-18, along with their leaders. It’s our most physically demanding summer youth event suitable for those with a good level of fitness, with plenty of opportunities for fun and friendships along the way.
What activities are involved?
During the event, you’ll:
- Take part in a day of survival activities.
- Go on two challenging hikes in the Swiss Alps.
- Get competitive on the Adelboden Games trail.
- Fly along the ziplines and tackle the rock climbing wall at the Adventure Park.
- Race down the summer toboggan!
In the evenings, you’ll be able to participate in a varied evening programme of activities to learn new skills and have fun with your new friends. Celebrate the Festival of Colour – Holi – with us through traditional customs as well as modern dance, fashion and food. Experience cultural appreciation and explore together the difference between this and cultural appropriation.
Experience how India is making steps forwards in the areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Learn how to recognise your own unconscious bias and assumptions and commit to a world that’s more accepting and appreciative of all.

Tare means ‘star’ in Hindi. As part of the community programme, you become ‘stars’ of the Sangam family.
Apply to be a ‘Tare’
Our Community Programme is open to all. However, you must be 18 or older and have basic conversational English.
We also expect applicants to demonstrate maturity, reliability, independence, self motivation, flexibility, adaptability, commitment to service, learning and an openness to other cultures.
Applications and references are accepted all year. Check the programme dates and choose your community programme experience.

Celebrate India: Ganesh Festival 2027
Sangam World Centre, Pune, India
Take part in a cultural event which coincides with Ganesh Chaturthi, one of the biggest festivals in the State of Maharashtra. Ganesh is the elephant headed God and the remover of obstacles. You will get to experience this festival in person visiting the sites around Pune where people have erected Ganesh mandals. You will also visit the homes of members of the Sangam family to experience the festival first hand.
This event will allow you to explore India through its colourful customs and traditions in a way that a regular tourist would not – you are family! Maybe the power of the Elephant will also impact your life?
Immersing yourself in Indian culture will stimulate all your senses. You will get to experience the sights and sounds of market shopping, try your hand at tying a sari, smell the fragrant spices and enjoy tasting a feast of delicious food.
