Short Term Volunteer

Sangam is looking for short term volunteers.

Sangam volunteers will join us for a three-month volunteer leadership placement. Next year’s placement will begin in mid-Jan and will end in mid-April.

  • Over 18 years of age
  • Member of World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS)
  • Good oral and written English skills (English is the working language of Sangam)
  • All applications must be endorsed by Member Organisation’s International Commissioner
  • Genuinely enjoys meeting and getting to know new people
  • Is open to being immersed in a multi-cultural environment
  • Practical, open minded, hard-working, and able to use common sense
  • Capable of leading groups of all ages and abilities in indoor and outdoor programme
  • Capable of taking responsibility to deliver work to the highest standard
  • Patient, good team player, and capable of working in an international team

Programme

  • Assist Programme team with the implementation of events
  • Design, prepare and run sessions according to the type of the event
  • Learn about Sangam’s Community Partners
  • Assist and support Tare(s) as and when necessary
  • Prepare and run WAGGGS initiatives sessions to be delivered for Sangam guests or community partners
  • Carry out programme related tasks
  • Assist the Programme Team in maintaining resources and cleanliness of Programme Room
  • Update session manuals when required

Guest Services

  • Meet and greet incoming guests
  • Be head of the table and facilitate conversations during meals and tea time to ensure positive sharing between guests and residents
  • General reception duties including receiving visitors, assisting guests with queries, and assisting with Yahdei, the Sangam Shop.

Operations

  • Support the day-to-day running of the World Centre
  • Take good quality pictures of all Sangam activities and events and file them correctly
  • Write articles and update Sangam’s social media accounts when required
  • Contribute to Sangam special events such as International Days celebration, Living at Sangam social evenings and Mind Mantra.

Sangam will provide you with all meals, accommodation, uniforms, use of self-service laundry facilities and wifi access in designated areas on site for the duration of your stay.

If you are worried about money, you should look into financial assistance options. You will need to cover your travel costs, souvenirs & things you want to do in your free time. Depending on where you are travelling from, we will be able to offer up to £600 towards the cost of your visa and flight. You may also be able to apply for assistance from your national Guide/Scout Organisation or local community organisations.

Please note: if you are successful at interview your application must be endorsed by your Member Organisation’s International Commissioner before we can make an offer of a placement. You may also be asked to provide contact details for two references.
